Resumo
The influence of the interference fit of precision insert bearings on the radial displacements and on the stress distribution in the bearing are investigated in this paper. The insert considered in the analysis is a thin steel shell to which a layer of an antifriction metal is bonded. The influence of the elasticity of the housing on the stress distribution in the insert, as well as the influence of the friction between the insert and the housing during the fitting, are investigated separately for the bearing spread and the bearing crush. Two-dimensional finite element models are used in the analysis. Results obtained for hoop stress on the bearing surface confirm the strong influence that the stiffness of the housing has on the bearing stress distribution.
