Resumo

In this paper, we consider a transient one-dimensional flow problem of water in unsaturated porous media, modeled by the nonlinear Richards equation. Constitutive relations of Van Genuchten will be employed. A parameterized solution for Richards equation is presented with the objective to define an initialization of the recursion for an alternative Adomian scheme. This solution is optimized via least squares and Newton's nonlinear method and evaluated by the nonlinear Richards equation i.e. a self consistency test. The results are analyzed for typical cases found in the literature.
