CONSTRUCTAL DESIGN OF I-SHAPED PATHWAY FOR COOLING A HEAT GENERATING BODY BY CONDUCTION AND CONVECTION

Resumo

This work applies "Constructal Design" method to discover the geometry that facilitates the heat flow of a conductive "I" shape pathway of high thermal conductivity material which is placed into a square-shape heat-generating medium with low thermal conductivity. The main goal is find out the geometry (arquitecture, configuration) which provides the easier access for the heat flow, in order to minimize the maximal excess of temperature of the whole system, i.e. the hot spots. The conductive pathway is cooled in the rim by convection heat transfer mechanism. The total volume is fixed while the volume of the high conductivity material can vary.
