FLAMMABILITY OF THE COMPOSITE: NATURAL LATEX ENHANCED WITH PLAID STRAW COCONUT

Resumo

Abstract. Composite produced from Plaid straw coconut and natural latex, with percentages of coconut plaids in the proportions 15%, 25% and 35% of the total volume of the compound in order to analyze the fire and burning speed without use retardant. The coconut webs were treated with 2% sodium hydroxide (NaOH). The assays were performed according to UL94 standard. In the UL94 vertical test samples were not classified because of the self-sustainability of the flame. It was also found that even cannot be classified according to the UL94 standard. The composites were far lower burn rate to a prescribed resolution CONTRAN No. 675, which requires liners employed by the automotive industry have a flame propagation velocity of 250 mm/min.
