Resumo

In this work, nonlinear tools to characterize whether a nonlinear system is periodic or non-periodic, were studied. Classical tools that characterized the behavior of the nonlinear system are, for example, Lyapunov exponents, FFT, among others. We compared these techniques, with others that recently appeared in the literature like 0-1 test and the Scale index. In this context, we applied these techniques in a MEMS system that present a rich nonlinear dynamics. Numerical results show that the Scale index can detect the behavior of the system when the signal is periodic or non-periodic, and the results are compared with 0-1 test and Lyapunov exponents.
