Resumo
The objective of this study is to simulate experimental and numerical fatigue crack growth results under mixed-mode loading in 2D problems published in the literature. The numerical modeling of each specimen was built using the software BemCracker2D. Boundary Element Method does the stress analysis in the software with the Dual Boundary Element Method (DBEM) for crack analysis; the stress intensity factors were calculated using the J-integral method; the software uses the Maximum Tangential Stress Criterion to predict the direction of crack growth; the crack growth rate is evaluated by using a Paris type equation as a function of an effective stress intensity factor. The results obtained here are presented with numerical and experimental data from the literature to discuss and validate BemLab2D and BemCracker2D software for use in mixed-mode fatigue crack growth analyses.
