Resumo
This paper describes an educational air blower, a reduced-scale process for teaching instrumentation and control as well as fluid dynamics. Constructed from a commercial hair-dryer, its automation is made by an Arduino microcontroller, with the aid of air temperature and speed sensors, mass flow being estimated by real-time software. Arduino performs the real-time tasks, while a human-machine interface is implemented on a Matlab console, in a personal microcomputer, this whole system permitting the students to control the blower in open-loop or closed-loop. Black-box identification and model validation are conducted for both temperature and mass flow. Experimental results complete the work.
