Resumo

Municipal solid waste, industrial and hospital are currently a major environmental and social challenge when they are not properly reused or recycled. The combustion process is among the operations to reduce the amount of waste that is destined for landfill or else in cases where the law provides the incineration of waste. Usually, the thermal energy generated in the incineration of solid wastes are dissipated to the environment as well as the exhaust gases in the chimney. The aim of this study is to propose a cogeneration system using a solid waste incinerator as a source of thermal energy, two plants of the type Rankyne cycle: (i) using water and (ii) using HFC-245fa as a working fluid and a photobioreactor as absorverdor and treatment of the exhaust gases and producing microalgal biomass. For the correct operation of the system, the emissions from the incinerator should be absorbed by means of cultivation of microalgae in photobioreactors and substances such as volatile organic compounds, furans, dioxins should be degraded by micro-algae to acceptable levels to meet current legislation for emissions.
