DYNAMICS OF SHAPE MEMORY ALLOY ORIGAMI-WHEEL

Resumo

Origami has inspired engineers to design compact systems with interesting abilities related to adaptive behavior. The use of smart materials increases the range of applicability of origami systems including robotics, biomedical and aerospace applications. Shape memory alloy (SMA) actuators are being used due to their capacity of generating high forces and deformations. This paper deals with the dynamical analysis of an origami-ball with SMA actuators. The origami-ball is usually employed in robotics presenting strong geometric and constitutive nonlinearities. Numerical simulations are carried out showing a complex dynamical response.
