Resumo

Portland cement manufacturing is characterized by high emission of pollutants gases during the clinker production process, due to a large amounts of raw materials and fuel entering the system that operates at high temperature, reaching 1450 °C for the solid phase and up to 2000 °C for the flame temperature. The introduction of the co-processing technique by cement industry has expanded the range of pollutants that can be generated during the production of clinker. In the co-processing when traditional or alternative fuels are burned, incomplete combustion may generate besides carbon monoxide (CO), nitrogen oxides (NOx) and sulfur oxides (SOx), also forming a number of other pollutants, such as hydrochloric acid (HCl), hydrofluoric acid (HF), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), heavy metals, dioxins and furans (PCDD/F), ammonia and chlorine. This study demonstrates the generation of different volumes of gases produced by the calcination of raw materials and the burning of differents fuels, coke of petroleum and materials constituents of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW), considering its chemical characteristics to be co-processed, into two kinds of systems to produce clinker, In Line Calciner (ILC) and Separate Line Calciner (SLC), aiming at maintaining an oxidizing atmosphere into the rotary kiln and precalcinator. Based on the type, design and dimensional characteristics of the kiln system. It was analyzed the variation of the Gas Residence Time (GRT) and temperatures, necessary to ensure the efficient destruction of Refuse Derived Fuel (RDF) from MSW.
