Resumo

The success of turbulent boundary layer simulation is especially associated with the precise prescription of inflow information. Random Flow Generation (RFG) technique is based on scaling and orthogonal transformation operations applied to a continuous flow-field generated as a superposition of harmonic functions and allows to generate non-homogeneous anisotropic flow field representing turbulent velocity fluctuations. In this sense, this study investigates the ability of a high order LES code in combination with RFG technique for simulating high-Reynolds number flows in a zero pressure gradient flat plate. The results of velocity means and Reynolds stress averages show a good match to DNS and LES data from the literature.
