Resumo

The power supply from renewable sources such as photovoltaic and wind occurs in several aspects, and energy storage combined with the weather forecasting is seen as the solution to mitigate this variability. For this, we propose an alternative of pumped hydro energy storage, an open pit mine called Águas Claras, located in Belo Horizonte, which has large hydraulic energy storage potential. Photovoltaic panels will be used as a main energy source for power supply, during off-peak periods of demand or during periods of low variability, the pumps will operate to provide the storage, while during a peak demand of energy, water will be consumed by a hydraulic turbine to recover energy.
