Modeling and numeric simulation of a non pre-mixed laminar gas combustion

Resumo

This work presents a comparison between three models of non pre-mixed laminar gas combustion with different complexity levels. Methane and air are used as fuel and oxidant, respectively. The first method assuming infinitely fast chemistry, adopted for the flame sheet model. The other one assuming a global mechanism of three steps to evaluate the chemical reactions. The last, most complex, uses the quasi-global mechanism to describe the chemical reactions, assuming that CH_4 is converted directly into CO and H_2 through the global mechanism, furthermore CO and H_2 in the following processes are treated with detailed mechanism. A set of differential equations for mass, energy and momentum (two dimensional geometry), unsteady, are solved numerically by a Control Volume Finite Element Method. Some results obtained by simulation are compared with experimental data.
