Fatigue analysis of dynamic systems subjected to cyclic loading in the frequency domain

Resumo

The design of engineering systems depends on a number of factors, highlighting the environment where it will work and how it will be loaded. Considering structures subjected to random loadings one of the major problems is the material failure by fatigue that occurs with no previous notice and generally on a sudden and catastrophic way. On this case, the analysis and characterization of the phenomenon require the application of statistical methods. The interest of this contribution is to describe fatigue in thin plates. A model is developed applying classical finite elements method and fatigue estimation by Sines criterion. This process requires Fourier's domain analysis of the system, using stress power spectral densities (PSD) of the structure submitted to a white Gaussian noise random loading. After the theoretical developments, the numerical results obtained by using a thin plate subjected to random multiaxial Gaussian loads are presented.
