MEASUREMENT OF MOTIONS AND TENSIONS OF ORAL MUSCLES DURING SPEECH AND CHEWING - AN OVERVIEW

Resumo

The development of new equipments to assist the evaluation, measurement, treatment and rehabilitation of human organs has been increased as a consequence of the advances in Mechanical Engineering and related fields. An example is the development of electronic tongue and swallowing videofluoroscopy. This study aims to review and analyze publications related to muscle tension motions measures of stomatognathics structures during speech and chewing. It was made searches and selected articles that had agreement with the proposed theme, published within the last five years and related to the areas of engineering, speech therapy and associates. It is observed the need for increased research in these interdisciplinary areas, associating the engineering and the medical fields with respect to the head and neck structures and inherent troubleshooting.
