Experimental Investigation on Calcium Carbonate Precipitation Inline

Resumo
During the past half century, the production of many oil fields on shallow waters and shore reservoirs started a depletion process. In order that exploration of hydrocarbons in deep and ultradeep waters got highlighted and became relevant in oil geopolitics. The scale formation is characterized by precipitation and continuous deposition of inorganic compounds in pipes, liners, gravel-pack screenings and many other equipments of oil industry. This situation causes a drop in production, tube and line clogging and hides the corrosion process. The aim of this work is to investigate how the precipitation rate of calcium carbonate depends on variables like flowrate, saturation, tube length and pressure drop. To achieve this goal a series of experiments was proposed in a pipe loop in order to analyze the calcium carbonate deposition under specific conditions, moreover the effects of magnetic and electromagnetic fields and its inhibition potential. And so contribute to studies that aim to prevent or to reduce scale formation.
