Resumo

The motivation of this work is to achieve a more effectiveness of energy harvesting devices exploiting nonlinear phenomena. In this way, this paper describes the design and analysis of a novel energy harvesting device that uses magnetic restoring forces to levitate an oscillating center magnet. The mathematical model for the energy harvesting device is derived and then examined for the case of eletro-mechanical base excitation. The magnetic levitation system has the form of a Duffing oscillator and, the nonlinear analysis is required to investigate the energy harvesting potential of this nonlinear system. We used some expressions related to coupling between the mechanical and electrical domains to describe the instantaneous, maximum, and average power, besides we also developed an expression for the excitation frequency where the maximum power harvester is obtained.
