GROUND VIBRATION TEST USING ACOUSTIC EXCITATION

Resumo
In the aerospace industry, ground vibration testing is essential for the accurate determination of the dynamic behavior of structural components. This information helps in the validation and improvement of dynamic models used in various stages of design, especially the elastic aero calculations. Among other functions, these models predict the natural frequencies and mode shapes of the structure in question. The most common methods for vibration test on the ground make use of an electromechanical shaker. The use of this type of driver may cause problems both for the test as to the structure. This paper presents the application of a vibration test methodology using acoustic excitation. It aims at reducing the number of equipment needed to perform the test as well as a form of excitation less intrusive to the structure. The validation test will be performed using a carbon plate with known properties. Its fundamental frequencies and mode shapes obtained from analytical and numerical way will be compared with experimental results. With the method validation, it may be applied to more complex structures, such as the wing of an airplane.
