Resumo

This paper presents the ocular movement analysis when reading texts on Tablet or printed paper under the influence of Whole Body Vibration (WBV). Such situations are very common nowadays, since the population spends more time travelling from home to work/study and wants to optimize their time doing activities such as reading. Every means of transport produces WBV. Mobile technologies (Tablets, Smartphones, etc) also make part of the modern lifestyle. However, there are no much study trying to understand such interactions (WBV and media) and the research presented here is the kick off analysis on that direction. For that, thirty university students (twelve females and eighteen males) took part in an experiment undertaken in laboratory condition. The whole body vibration was applied in the z-axys, at 5 Hz and 0.8 m/s2 rms amplitude. The results show that for these test parameters, reading on Tablet under the influence of WBV was the best situation. On the contrary, reading on paper with no WBV was the worst.
