Resumo

The Brazilian sugarcane sector has great potential to electricity generation. In general these industries use the Condensing Extractions Steam Turbines cogeneration system for the production of useful heat and electricity and mechanical power, operating with sugar cane bagasse with 50 % of relative humidity in steam generator. In this work is studied the incorporation of the gasification process in a conventional sugarcane industry to increase the electricity surplus to be sell to utility. To verify the potential of this application this technology incorporation, is need a technical analysis for the determination of the production electric energy surplus, and an economical analysis to determine the annual saving by the sale of this electricity. As conclusions, it follows that the plant with gasification process can increase in 8.56 times of the electricity production of the conventional plant considered, indicating a positive annual saving when the sales price of the supply electricity is greater than 0.070 US$/kWh. Finally it can be concluded that the incorporation of the gasification process allow greater economical feasibility and operational flexibility of Brazilian sugarcane industry for your contribution to electricity generation in Brazil.
