Resumo
This paper presents a numerical study about the gaseous cavitation in converging-diverging nozzles. The gaseous cavitation model used in the simulation has been recently proposed in the literature and is developed in the context of the thermodynamics of irreversible processes. By coherently contemplating the rate of energy dissipation associated with the gaseous cavitation, the model is capable to describe important irreversible effects observed in the flow of gas-liquid mixtures through small passages. Among them are the reduction of the wavefront speed and the occurrence of hysteresis phenomena.
