Resumo
In this paper the behavior of the steel wire rope "33x6x19s" using numerical simulation through CAD (3D modeling) and CAE (Finite Element) tools is analyzed. This study focuses on the deformation especially in the elongation and normal and shear stresses inside the wire rope, where is not possible to make a visual check. Initially shows how the mathematical model of the complete wire rope established. The wire rope has a geometric shape helix complex as some wires may be straight, single or double helix, so it was necessary to use the tool PTC Creo ParametricT (Pro/ENGINER). Then the application of FEM is presented by Abaqus/CAE T software at the core of the wire rope under the effects of tension and friction load, mainly for internal analysis of the tensions that arise. Comparing the results obtained using the analytical equation of wire rope elongation with results of numerical simulation excellent results were obtained. Being demonstrated that modeling and simulation performed are reliable, so other stress analysis results are too.
