Resumo
On last decades, the continuous increasing in price and with the perspective for insufficiency of fossil fuels have encouraged research and use of renewable energy. From alternative sources highlighted, the most used on residences is the water heating system with solar flat plate collectors. Another alternative based on this technology is the direct absorption collector, also known as volumetric collector. On this device, the working fluid flows between a black absorber plate on bottom and a glass plate on top. The water flow is heated directly by the sun and indirectly by the absorber plate. This study analyzed the direct absorption collector using two different algorithms, SIMPLE and PIMPLE, in order to verify their effectiveness. For this, it was considered a case where the inflow was constant and equal to 2 L/(min.m²) for three angles, 30°, 45 and 60°. The results obtained by the simulations were compared with theoretical ones and demonstrated a good precision for both algorithms, having relative errors smaller than 2.0% for all the simulations.
