Resumo
The development of Finite element models of the human spine remains challenging because of the complexity of the geometry of vertebrae and intervertebral discs. The objective of this study is to develop a geometrical model of the intact thoracic spine that is representative of an average human spine. For that purpose, the geometry of the thoracic vertebrae T10-T11 derived from CT images, was modified by an iterative process considering anthropometric mean values provided literature. The proposed method successful lead to the development of a geometrical model well representative of the mean of human spine samples studied.
