Resumo
The ground structure method is based on a size optimization of highly connected trusses. The design solution is extracted in a post-processing step by filtering out the unnecessary thin bars. Recently filters have been proposed to extract a topology in equilibrium at each step in order to obtain clearly defined structures in equilibrium during the topology optimization process. This paper reviews the discrete and the maximum filter approaches and proposes improvements in the filtering technique. Examples are provided to demonstrate the capabilities of each approach.
