Resumo

The introduction of the computer into manufacturing processes had a significant impact on the cost and quality of the products and services offered since then. The use of automated equipment has raised the industrial productivity and quantity of manufactured products in the market, thus making them cheaper and more affordable. The presence of a computer in the processes occurs through the use of circuits with discrete digital components (logic gates and multiplexers, for example), Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs), microcontrollers and Digital Signal Processors (DSP). The use of these technologies in conjunction with sensors and actuators make processes more reliable, secure and efficient due to the implementation of control systems. The function of these systems is to use techniques that allow you to keep variables of a process (flow, temperature, pressure, etc.) in pre-established values that allow real-time corrections. Classic PID (Proportional-Integral-Derivative) control is the most used in the industry today, due to its robustness, wide range of processes that can be applied and the simple and direct way of operating it. However, for non-linear processes, with transport delays or time-varying parameters it can act poorly. To compensate for this limitation of traditional control systems, intelligent controllers have been created. Fuzzy control, as well as neural networks, expert systems, and genetic algorithms, is a type of intelligent control that provides responses appropriate to specific problem situations. This makes the control adapt to new situations. This work aims to present the comparative study between a PI controller and a Fuzzy controller applied in a hydraulic plant, demonstrating its performances. In order to develop the Fuzzy and PI (Proportional-Integrative) controllers, data acquisition and plant identification were necessary. The acquisition was made by supplying hydraulic pump inputs via the WEG CFW11 frequency inverter. For each input value there was a different flow rate, which was
