Correlation of friction coefficients obtained by the test of the ring and generated through the software Abaqus

Resumo

Computer simulation technologies provide the industry with tools that streamline and minimize the expense of making new products, enabling the first prototypes to be fabricated with greater assertiveness. For the simulation of Mechanical forming processes it is necessary to provide the software with the friction factor between the material and the tool. Not always the value of the friction factor is obtained by empirical test, such as the ring test, or tabulated value in the literature results in the simulations a behavior that is faithful to that observed experimentally. For this research was used the computational simulation through the software Abaqus and results of experimental tests. The ring test simulation was parameterized for the Copper material UNS-C11000 under different friction conditions, while the other process parameters were fixed and unchanged. Finally, the objective was to combine, by similarity, the real and simulated final geometries to confront their respective values of friction and to investigate possible correlation between the coefficients obtained by the ring test developed by Male and Cockcroft and what should be utilized at the simulation.
