Resumo
Axial force-bending moment (N-M) interaction diagrams (or resistance curves) of a cross section are an essential tool commonly used in any structural design office. The cross section resistance capacity is quickly assessed by relating the ultimate values of the bending moment and the axial force. However, when the structural element is under fire action, significant changes occur in the behavior of the section and the N-M interaction diagrams become strongly dependent on the temperature field. This occurs mainly due to the degradation of the mechanical properties of the section materials with the temperature increase, thus modifying the constitutive relations of the materials. In this context, the present work aims to obtain the resistance curves of cross sections of structural elements used in the civil construction, submitted to fire action, using a general numerical strategy based on the Strain Compatibility Method (SCM), which will be detailed in the body of work. The formulation used is validated by cross sections N-M curves for steel and reinforced concrete under different temperature distributions. The obtained results are compared with experimental and numerical answers known in the literature.
