Resumo

The purpose of this paper is to present a null thickness interface element with nonlinear constitutive behavior to be used under plane strain and axi-symmetric conditions. In order to emphasize the capabilities of this element two categories of examples are evaluated. The patch test examples category aims to investigate the interface elements formulations and stress integration algorithm. The field problems involving an example on a long block under a rigid foundation and other about two concentric hollow cylinders sliding. In these cases the implementation is verified when compared to some analytical problems. A study of its kinetic inconsistency, ill-conditioning, and numerical integration are also provided.
