Resumo

This paper investigates the joint probabilistic modeling of the wave, wind and current metocean parameters using a joint probability model based on Nataf´s transform. The model considers both the intensity and the direction of environmental parameters. Statistical dependence between variables is modeled by means of their correlation coefficient. A procedure is proposed for calculating the equivalent correlation coefficient for the Nataf model when one of the variables is circular. Using a database gathered in a Gulf of Mexico (GoM) location. The accuracy of the model is verified through artificial simulations using a Monte Carlo-based simulation, where the statistical characteristics of the data numerically generated are compared with the original sample data.
