Technical Impacts Caused by the Connection of a Gas Microturbine in Low-Voltage Grids

Resumo
The integration of distributed energy resources to the low-voltage and medium-voltage electrical system has been widely encouraged. However, a large-scale installation of distributed generation may cause voltage rise, mainly due to the low X/R ratio of the distribution lines; unbalanced power flow related to the use of single-phase generators in three-phase systems; and increasing technical losses due to modification of the current flow. In this sense, this paper presents a power quality impact analysis of gas microturbine connection in the 13-bus IEEE distribution test feeder. The PSCAD/EMTDC software was used to obtain the results.
