Resumo
Alternative energy sources have been extensively used in the power system which has caused a decrease in its overall inertia, an important factor to damp frequency oscillation. Aiming to support the frequency regulation, this work shows that the synthetic inertia control by a Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) can be satisfactorily employed in a microgrid which was suddenly isolated from the main grid. A management system is proposed to inject active power into the microgrid when required and it also ensures that the state of charge of the BESS remains within the stipulated limits. The results show the benefit of the synthetic inertia insertion just after the unbalance between generation and demand and the charging process of BESS under normal operation conditions.
