An Experimental Evaluation of Procedures Aimed at Sharing the Voltage Imbalance Responsibility

Resumo
Imbalances are phenomena characterized by the dissimilarity in the three-phase voltage and/or current waveforms. This electrical disturbance can occur due to several reasons and may be a result of a combination of the power supplier and consumer asymmetries. As it can cause large effects upon electric power system operation, when the regulatory limits are exceeded mitigation strategies shall be applied. In this way, due to the high costs associated with practical solutions, the seek for procedures capable of assigning the imbalance responsibility between the agents emerges as an imperative requirement. The main reason for such a procedure is based on the search for the means so that the costs of any mitigating solutions are shared fairly between suppliers and consumers. Despite the existence of a few investigative works on the subject focused herein, further studies are still needed, mainly concerning the methodologies performance in practical environments. Therefore, this paper is focused on presenting experimental investigation results to achieve the pointed out goals. For this, a laboratory arrangement is carried out to check out the effectiveness of the most common procedures found in the literature aimed at attributing the voltage imbalance responsibilities.
