Resumo
Not only distorted voltage and current waveforms, but also unbalanced systems are commonly found on power systems, notably due to the increasing number of single-phase non-linear loads. These phenomena may be mitigated by shunt active power filters (SAPF). In order to reduce the negative impact of distortions and unbalances in the electrical system, the active power filter synthesizes a compensation current waveform, that eliminates possible disturbances inserted on the system by non-linear loads. In this scenario, the present work investigates two different methods of synthesizing the electrical current through SAPF: sinusoidal current methodology and unity power factor methodology. The purpose of this study is determining which method is better on mitigating harmonics, reducing unbalances and performing the best energy efficiency. Aiming this purpose, several simulations using Matlab-Simulink were carried out considering both methodologies. The results obtained led to the conclusion that unity power factor methodology is more accurate, in certain cases mitigate more harmonics components from current, determines a vi-characteristic similar to linear load and provides a better use of the power system than sinusoidal current methodology.
